Balance Point Guide

What Is the Balance Point?

The balance point is where the cue naturally balances on one finger — usually 16.5–18 inches from the butt.

It determines where the weight feels when you play.

Forward vs Rear Balanced

Forward-Balanced (18"+)

  • More weight toward the front

  • Feels stable and smooth

  • Great for steady, straight potting

Rear-Balanced (Under 16.5")

  • More weight in the handle

  • Feels lighter at the tip

  • Easier to maneuver

Which Should You Choose?

If you're unsure, choose a mid-range balance (17–17.5").

It’s the safest and most versatile option.

If you prefer quicker cue movement → go slightly rear.

If you prefer a solid, steady feel → go slightly forward.

There’s no “right or wrong” answer — it’s about what feels natural to you.
